Dutch oven cooking

Yesterday the kids and I went to a Dutch oven cooking class at a local metro park. It was put on for homeschoolers. We got to go on a nature hike and learn a little about our area and then the kids got to help prepare the food. They made cornbread and apple cobbler.

Shaking the apples in the coating
Josh let Kyle help shake his bag
It was a nice sunny day in the low 40's. We had lots of fun exploring our new home :-)
Kyle also had allergy testing done yesterday am. Of the foods they tested him for nothing came up positive, so the allergist thinks he just needs a stronger reflex med. So we will discuss that with his GI doctor in a few weeks at his appt. He is starting to get over his cold so we are happy about that. :-)

Family fun day

Today we had homeschool co-op, then Kyle had a urology appt. ( that went well, no surgery right now, YEAH!) Then we took the kids on a surprise trip to the Great Lakes Science Museum.
They had an exhibit on the Titainic that was really interesting. We were each given a boarding pass on the way in with the name of a person who was really on the boat and a little bit of their story, then you got to walk thru the exhibit and at the end you found out that fate of the person on your boarding pass. It was amazing to see some of the artifacts and pictures from the boat.
We also got to watch an omsimax movie on space while we were there, we had our own private viewing ( we were the only ones in the whole theater) which was fun.  The kids enjoyed it( Lucy and Kyle feel asleep durning it). We have been studying space in school so this was fun.
We played around for a little bit in the science center but it is really big and we got a season pass so we will be back :-)
It also snowed this morning at our house! The kids were so excited it was like Christmas.

They had snow clothes on by 7:15 and were out making snow angels and throwing snow balls. It was just a dusting but they had a blast.
The snowball fight continued where ever we went
So much fun!
This last weekend the kids and I went to a operation Christmas child shoebox packing party. It is a fun tradition that Wade and I have done since the second year we were married and now it is fun to do it with our kids.
They each got to pack a shoebox
And write the child who will get the box a note and pictures
Then we prayed for the children who will get the boxes and the people delivering them
It was a fun day! :-)
