Thursday night

Tonight Kyle got a haircut, he was getting pretty bushy for a Heath boy so Mommy cut his hair before bath time.
Here he is trying to get some potassium in before bed.
We have also been dog sitting. It has been nice for Tug to have a friend to play with, She has been wearing him out. They play all day and sleep well at night :-)

Hanging out with the kiddos
Doing school work with Delaney in the coach

We are enjoying living in a place with 4 seasons that we get to enjoy:-)

Fresh air was very nice and very needed before we drop down to the "negatives" again tomorrow.

Burrrr it's cold out there!!!

We have had a cold month, which has complicated a sick kid and trying to get him well. Our temps have been
This was Tuesday
Pretty sure this was Thursday. The girls decided to have a "pool party" in the living room and played in their swimsuits by the fire.
They took these pics themselves
Snuggling the doggy

Kyle had to go get bloodwork done Thursday morning. It was soooo cold, I was glad that the hospital has valet parking, just wish it was cheeper 😜.
This morning was the coldest. Lasts night we broke a 21 year record for the coldest night. We had to drive downtown this morning to see Kyles doctor. He is doing better, but we are trying to find a non dairy supplement that he likes, which has been really hard. And we are also trying to get him to eat foods that will increase his potassium levels.
So when Wade got home tonight( he has been at ice school in Michigan all week) we went shopping.
I am hoping something here will look appetizing to him, we also got some samples of formula from the MD to try and add to these to boost his protein and nutrients.
Hope you are all staying warm wherever you are! We are trying! Suppose to get a heat wave tomorrow, highs in the 30's!! And more snow.

Wigs for kids

Today Delaney donated 12 inches of her hair to wigs for kids. She was so excited to give it to kids who can't have their own hair.

Getting better...hopefully

So Monday Kyle had a follow up with his pediatrician. He was not looking very good and I think they only reason they let us come home and try one more night of oral hydration was because of my nursing background. They tryed to do bloodwork but could not get any blood. We stoped off at Target on our way home from our 3 hour MD appt and stocked up any any juice, popsicle, or food I thought he would eat. And more anti nausea medicine. That night he took some fuilds and went to sleep.
Tuesday Wade worked with him all morning trying to get him to drink and keep it down. They snuggled and watched Jake and the neverland pirates.

That afternoon we went back downtown to the MD and let them try to get labwork done again. They got enough blood to run a few tests and saw he was still fairly dehydrated but we were on the right track. He was also drinking better and was more active. We were very happy to not have to have another hospital stay, and very very happy that he is "slowly" getting better.
He was looking at his hair in the mirror when I took his snow hat off, he told me he had "monster hair".
Poor guy thinks he needs a puke bucket every time we walk into the MD
So we are praying that we are on the right track and this is just going to be a slow recovery for our little guy. We are just taking it a day at a time.

The Old Brown Dog

Well now that Kyle is back home we have more bad news that I just haven't been ready to write about. Kinley, the Ol' Momma Dog, isn't with us anymore. We had to put her down this last Saturday. She was hurting really bad and it was just time. Never an easy decision to make. So now the whole family is on the emotional roller coaster of "remember when" and twelve years of tears to follow. We couldn't have asked for a more loving, loyal, caring and protective member of our family. The memories are flooding back. Memories like driving through Fresno when we picked her up as a puppy and seeing the sign for McKinley Ave which gave her a name. Memories of how she use to guard the farm in Modesto from Gary (the owner) who came out every day at 1800 on the dot to feed the cows. Memories of the countless hours of playing catch, hiking, snuggling and riding in the truck. Memories of the nine puppies, eight different houses, four vehicles, four kids, three states and three other dogs. Dispite the continued changes, home for her was always wherever we parked "her truck" out front and walked inside. She was always at the door to greet us, and couldn't wait to "load up" when it was her turn to go. She never judged, not when you were sad, mad, in the wrong or even when you are a terrible hunter. When you were happy, she was happy. When you were sad, she was sad. There was never a teary face left un-licked, a broken heart not comforted or a depressing day not brightened. She was always there, always ready, always loyal, always ready to smother you with kisses (licking). She was a steady companion and will be greatly missed for a long time. Fair winds and following seas Old Brown Doggie.

In "her truck"
Helping with the homeschooling
"I'm a person. I'm not supposed to be out here"
Licking Wade's ears through the truck window.
Never happier then when going for a walk.
Kinley doing what what Kinley did best. Manure spreader.
She always made a great First Mate no matter how young and crazy the sword wheeling captain was.
She loved and was loved.
"Are you going to eat that????"
Adventure is out there! Squirrel!!!!
Happy Doggie!
The old peanut butter to the roof of the mouth routine to get her pills down.
She is deeply missed. Even by Tug.
